November 2, 2010

Final Score: Carden Hall defeats Anaheim Hills, 24-26, 25-22, 16-18

Fierce and determined were the words to describe the Lady Cougars as they fought in the semi-finals of the Tri-Way Volleyball play-offs on Tuesday.  The Cougars were beaten by the Carden Hall Eagles in three very long, exhausting games, 24-26, 25-22, 16-18.  Captains Neha P. and Jayde W. lead the girls volleyball team to a few comebacks in points but the Eagles triumphed in the end.  The girls were so determined not to give up the game and rallied around each other.  It was an amazing season, and even though it did not end the way we had all hoped, we are VERY proud of our Lady Cougars.  They finish with an 11-2 season, the best season the Anaheim Hills campus has ever had.

We would like to congratulate our Lady Panthers for a great season!
The Mable Panthers fell to Carden Hall in the first round of playoffs for the 2010 season.
Mable entered the match ranked #6, and had to face a very strong Carden Hall ranked #3. With several errors in a row and inconsistent serving, Fairmont was simply not able to keep up with the play of Carden Hall.  However, we are proud of the Lady Panthers for their winning season that got them to the playoffs!

October 25, 2010

Final Score:  Mable defeats Edgewood: 24-26, 25-20, 15-13

Mable’s Junior High Volleyball Team pulled off a great victory against Edgewood! This win was needed to solidify a playoff position, making the victory even sweeter.

The match opened up with a very tight game one, and the Panthers actually lost 24-26. We were determined to rally back and took game two 25-20. The deciding game always moves quickly. The Panthers built a little cushion, going up 10-6; but the Edgewood Eagles fought back and tied it 12-12. With some great serves from Lauren H., we closed game three with a 15-13 win, the final point coming from one of Brianna P.’s well placed hits.

On Wednesday, October 27th, the Lady Panthers will work hard in a double header at Pegasus School. Due to weather conditions earlier, some games had to be moved around. We will first face Pegasus, and then immediately play against Heritage Christian at Pegasus. These back to back games are necessary in order to determine the playoff order.Wish us luck! The better we do on Wednesday, the better playoff standing we have!

October 20, 2010

Final Score:  Mable Defeats Oakridge: 25-23, 25-22

The junior high volleyball team earned their third win with their match against Oakridge. The Lady Panthers had to battle back from some point deficits, but the team played very well overall. Karla G. was key in getting some excellent passes to our setters. Sheryne N. and Julie S. both executed some great attacks against Oakridge.  More accurate hitting was seen from Brianna P. and Phoebe S. As always, Lauren H. was consistent at the serving position. Skylar H. and Leanne A. played well, subbing from the bench and contributing several points while on the floor.

The volleyball team is right on the cusp of making it to play-offs this year. Every win is now vital, and we look forward to our next game on Monday, October 25th at the Edgewood Campus.

October 18, 2010

Final Score:  Mission Hills defeats Mable: 23-19, 25-13

After coming back from a week of games without many of our players, the Panthers were looking forward to playing against a well-matched team. Unfortunately, Panthers Volleyball was dealt another loss in their home opener against Mission Hills.

Our girls opened the game very well, trading points back and forth, but we just were not able to return Mission Hills’ consistent and accurate hits. We saw some great serves from Sheryne N. and Lauren H., and Karla G. did her best to dig up as points as she could.
