FACULTY LOUNGE edgewood's ben hughes creates debate (league, that is)

Benjamin Hughes has been teaching history and English at the Edgewood Campus for ten years.  This year, he is also serving as a 6th grade homeroom teacher and as the history pentathlon coach.  Although he grew up in Duxbury, Massachusetts, Mr. Hughes has spent most of his life in California, and he currently lives in Tustin Ranch.

Aside from his day to day teaching duties, Mr. Hughes has been very involved in speech and debate.  After overseeing the creation of a middle school debate department for Fairmont in 2007, Mr. Hughes went on to create a public debate league for all middle school students in Orange County.  Today, he serves as president of the Orange County Debate League and as head coach for the Edgewood debate team.

Mr. Hughes graduated from Capistrano Valley High School, and he attended Tulane University in New Orleans before eventually earning his degree at Claremont McKenna College.
