SHOW & TELL
Assist Program
The Assist Program at the Mable Campus is here to help children who may need additional support with a particular academic skill.  Our goal is to improve the performance level of any student who demonstrates a need for supplemental academic assistance.  Students are identified for the Assist program through teacher referral, test scores, assessments and observations. Children typically attend the Assist Program during the school day at Spanish instruction time. Our Assist teacher, Mrs. Sanders, works both individually and in small groups to reinforce skills taught in the classroom.

Another excellent resource available to all Mable students is FASA.  Mrs. Sanders oversees this after-school program in the computer lab with the help of Ms. Kelbaugh.  FASA is a computer-based learning program designed to help students seeking remediation, grade-level reinforcement or enrichment.  Each child attending FASA is assessed to identify what type of learning experience is needed.  The FASA teachers develop a customized program tailored to the individual student's skill set which may include computer learning, one-on-one tutoring or small group work.  Students typically attend after school two days a week.

Please call Mrs. Sanders at extension 1103 for more information about this exciting opportunity!

Accelerated Math Program
It has been a great start to the school year for the Fairmont Mable Campus students in our Accelerated Math program.  Our students have begun the year exactly where they left off last year.  This allows each student to have an individualized math program where every child is working to accelerate his or her own learning process.  We look forward to our first grade students starting the program after Parent Night.

With excellent teacher support and modified lessons, Accelerated Math has become an extremely important supplementary program to Fairmont's already rigorous math curriculum.  With Math Facts in a Flash, a part of the Accelerated Math program, being used throughout the elementary, the speed and accuracy of our math students have grown through the years. With these two wonderful math programs and Fairmont's exceptional math teachers, there is no limit to the growth of each student.

To learn more about Accelerated Math, be sure to attend the Director's Series "Understanding Accelerated Math" being held on October 7, at 8:30 am and repeating at 6:30 pm, in the Mable Library.

From Your FPA President, Mrs. Winna Kishimoto

Please join us for our 3rd annual "Back to School Family Picnic"
This event has become a tradition at Mable Campus.  It's a chance for us to socialize and get to know all the families here. The Parent Association will provide drinks, snow cones and popcorn. The pool will be open for swimming and there will also be the "Big Kahuna" water slide.

Bring your towels, swimsuits and a picnic basket and join us on Saturday, September 18th. We hope to see all of you there.
