Happy start to the 2010-2011 school year!! We have had a lot of activity on the campus this summer. The building has been painted, several classrooms have been re-carpeted, the main office and administrative offices have been completely remodeled, and the office roof, front sidewalks, and front landscaping have been replaced. In addition, the front drive was resurfaced, the science lab was completely upgraded, a new awning was installed and we installed 5 additional promethean boards. We are very excited about all these upgrades. If you have not had a chance to come and see the changes, please stop by and have a look.

SCHOOL NEWS music teacher offers expert advice in oc family magazine

Anaheim Hills campus music instructor SarahLynn Zavoral has an infectious love of music and of children.  She believes that music education boosts her students' brainpower and also helps them relax and express themselves during the course of their challenging school week.  She is a true asset to Fairmont's music program and proof of Fairmont's continued commitment to fostering development of the whole child.  Find out more about Mrs. Zavoral including her tips for parents by reading the Experts Speak Out section of OC Family magazine this month.

ARTS & CRAFTS fall critter creation

Yes, even in Southern California we enjoy the subtle shift of one season to the next. Fall is just around the bend. Let this little mouse motivate you to plan a family outing to a local park or nature center adding exercise, fresh air and plenty of learning opportunities to your month.

FACULTY LOUNGE music teacher publishes book of original tunes

Kudos to Fairmont music teacher Mrs. Marliyn Taylor.  “After teaching flute for twenty years I decided to write a book to meet the needs of young flute students,” says Taylor and so she did!  Flute Journeys includes fun, original tunes composed by Mrs. Taylor and is designed for young flute students--like her students at Fairmont.  Mrs. Taylor teaches the woodwinds classes at Mable (5th-8th), Anaheim Hills(5th-8th) and Edgewood (5th & 6th) campuses. She also teaches the junior high orchestra class at Mable.  You can purchase a copy online at www.newjtmusic.homestead.com or by contacting Mrs. Taylor at mtaylor@fairmontschools.com
