Eighth grader Alison R. of Fairmont's Edgewood campus bravely
spelled down 42 of the county’s best spellers, making it to the final round of the fourty-eighth annual Orange County Scripps National Spelling Bee. Fifty
finalists, from twenty-eight public schools and seven private schools,
competed Saturday, February 26 at the Orange County Department of
Education. Alison placed 8th overall in the county. She received a plaque and a cash award for her valiant
efforts.
