SCHOOL NEWS anaheim hills student attends u.s. national soccer team camp

Congratulations to 8th Grader, Dylan S.!
Anaheim Hills’ Dylan Smith returned home this week after taking part in the U.S. Soccer Under-14 Boys' National Team's international training session in Guadalajara, Mexico.  The training, held January 16-23, included eight days of training and a series of friendly matches against local youth clubs, including Atlas and Chivas de Guadalajara.

Every player on the roster was born in 1997, and were identified through the yearly player identification camp (held August 2010) and U.S. Soccer Training Centers.  Dylan, an eighth-grade student at Fairmont Private School-is among nine Californians on the team, but is the lone player from Orange County.

Dylan, 14, was invited to train with the Olympic Development Program (ODP) from Southern California in 2008.  He has been training with them ever since, and last year he was invited to try out for the regional team-representing Southern California.  From there, he was invited to train with other regional teams and to try out for the national team.
